PLDT Enterprise collaborated
with FILIPAY, a local payment solutions provider, as part of the PUV (public
utility vehicle) modernization program in the Philippines.
The collaboration aims to
provide an automated fare collection system and fleet management system to PUV
operators and transport groups. The Automated Fare Collection System enables
passengers to pay their fares electronically through a cashless payment system,
while the Fleet Management System helps PUV operators manage their fleets more
efficiently by monitoring their vehicles in real-time, tracking routes, and
managing vehicle maintenance schedules.
Through this collaboration, PLDT Enterprise and FILIPAY hope to promote digital transformation in the transport industry and improve the commuting experience for passengers.
These companies are exploring the use of people counting technology or digital tools to improve the efficiency and safety of public transportation in the Philippines.
The
Automated Fare Collection System and Fleet Management System are expected to
help transport groups and PUV operators reduce costs, increase revenues, and
provide safer and more efficient transportation services.
It's worth noting that this
collaboration is just one of many initiatives under the PUV modernization
program, which aims to replace old, unsafe, and inefficient jeepneys and other
PUVs with new, environmentally friendly, and safer vehicles.
